Repainting vs Replacing Aluminium Joinery

window

We understand the predicament homeowners are put into when it comes to spending their valuable money. And when it comes to deliberating if it’s a better option to replace old aluminium windows / doors versus repainting and restoring them, you can get caught in the middle of that dilemma. However, if we know what factors and benefits are involved in both options, then the decision becomes easier specially when you’re making an informed decision. Whether that decision is to go for an extra cost or for the more sustainable and cost-effective option.

We would say replacing is a case-to-case basis and depends on some factors that are highly important to homeowners. And I guess the question you need to ask yourself is, do I want to replace my aluminium joinery for a bigger and wider frame and a total revamp of style and design? Is replacing them more cost effective on my budget? Is it more sustainable? What are the hassles involved in replacing them? i.e. removal of frames from the structure to replacement, gibing, the skirting, it’s water and air tightness and all other potential damage and hidden cost that may come from replacing them.

Replacing your existing aluminium windows or aluminium doors should now be a secondary option because windows and doors restoration provides the best value of your money and time.

Gone are the days where the misconception of most home or establishment owners is that you must replace aluminium joinery when you want them in a different colour or when you have an old aluminium joinery and its powder coat colour or anodised colour is looking pale, old, outdated, rundown or just doesn’t blend in if you are wanting a modernised look of your entire property.

We have had a previous client who initially decided all their windows to be replaced. These windows are built since 1979. Although half of them have been replaced already when we got on board, the project costs a lot more than the initial budget and had costs them stress and headache that they eventually decided to repaint the remaining windows instead saving them their valuable time and money!

Aluminium is built to last. It is light, strong, corrosion-resistant and lasts for a lifetime. We know trends change but fortunately it can be remediated with a just a facelift to get them looking good as new! Restoring or maintaining your existing windows and doors doesn’t mean you’re stuck with it’s old, outdated, dull, rundown look and sometimes corroded surface. And the best thing about remediating existing powder coat or anodised aluminium colour is that you can have almost any colour you want across the many colour options available basically anything you fancy! And while you save a lot of costs in replacement, we ensure you have a durable aluminium joinery finish while we also ensure we keep the disruption to a minimum while the work is being completed. For an average house It only takes a few days to prep and repaint all the aluminium joinery but of course with the help of a specialised painter in this field – Vision Recolouring.
